Well, it had to happen (I suppose. I come from a long line of people whose stuff breaks.)
After taking the precaution of learning how to use my new Flip camcorder before I made the trip to NYC where every shot would be a one-time-only chance, I set out to document the sights and sounds of the train that brought me home.
And the camera froze.
And I had no internet access to correct the situation.
So I began using my back-up Canon Elph — which does not freeze — and waited for the battery to die on the Flip.
When it did (3 hours later, not bad for a battery), I recharged it on my computer (never travel without one).
The camera reset, and I took another brief video (under a minute and a half) before it froze again.
Another three hours, another recharge (long train ride) — and I successfully caught a glimpse of Alden prison in the dark.
Next day, a child on YouTube told me what to do.
Great kid. No relation.
